Frost here this morning - hope you all had a good Christmas - "ME" I don't know how I git through it, felt so ill. Saw out of hours Dr and was given anti biotic for urine infection which actually made me feel worse. There has to be a reason but nobody knows what the answer is. I did manage to go to our daughters but I would have been happy to stay home.

I remember about Urine infections Ann, I used to get them on a regular basis and my wife always said you should not be getting them it's more a ladies complaint. My Doctor would give me antibiotics until one day I had it so bad that I was going to the toilet every ten minutes, he sent me to Hospital as a emergency one Saturday morning and I spent the day around the back of the A&E dept at Addenbrooke's in Cambridge. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, lucky for me it was caught early. My wife was told she had arthritis in her back, 4 weeks later she was dead with pancreatic cancer, morale of that is you can't always rely on the Doctors.

I think age related is bullshyte 90% of the time Ann. I wont be climbing Everest any time soon, that is age related, although I never fancied climbing it when I was young either. Older people might be more prone to catching things, but they can all be treated if the doctor can be bothered, but its easier to say age related. I have a very large doctors practice, if I dont like a doctor I ask to see another the next time and settle for the one I get on with. Of course having a cancer consultant helps out, GPs are always a bit frightened of what you might say at the hospital. I often tell my consultant that I went to see my doctor and see if he has any opinions on my treatment. Then its not hard to tell my doctor, that my consultant said whatever. Thats how I got my doctor to prescribe Carbocistene, but mt consultant had never heard of it until I told him about it. Then he said try it out, it cant do any harm and my doctor thought my consultant was prescribing it the way I told him. A lot of doctors think they are cleverer than us mere mortals. Never met a doctor who could put one over on me and get away with it.

I was desperate Ken and wanting an answer of sorts, I googled stuff and the Dr didn't like it at all, little did he know I was trying with his help to help myself! We are a large practise and I strongly believe it's too large for them too cope with so many patients but that's no reason in my opinion to diagnose you over the phone.
