At 15.00 my tele and BB went out, at 21.00 they were still out and so I called Virgin help on 150. I was told there was a one minute delay, which turned out to be 10 minutes. Then I got some feller who could barely speak English. He told me to switch everything off at the mains and back on again, I had already told him that didn't work when I did it. Then after 10 minutes of pretending to try and fix it, he told me he would send out a repair man on Friday. He said if the fault was in the cable, they would fix it and the repair man wouldn't come. As my modem and Tivo box are two separate things, its even obvious to me that the fault lies in the cable. I doubt if they will pay overtime, so it wont get fixed till tomorrow at the earliest. The police station shuts at 17.00 and dont open again till the morning, so they wont complain about their computers until then. I'm on the same cable as them, I kept getting cut off when they hooked them in. They wont hang about fixing it, once the police complain. Pity its only a part time station, still they only spent £780.000 to build it. Cant expect a real one as cheap as that.

I was right the fault was in the cable, but not as far off as I thought it might be. When Virgin renewed the cable connectors, they never replaced the lid on the box. The box is right beside and in full sight of the path to the downstairs flats. They only ever tighten the connections hand tight, they probably have to educate them to use a spanner. Someone had disconnected my cable, probably bloody kids. He's ordered a new lid for the box and tightened the connectors, so they cant be unscrewed by hand. If they couldn't be bothered to put the original lid back on, I doubt if they will put a new one on.
Its probably the same kids who have been over the back and vandalised Stonebridge City Farm. They call it a farm, but its only a couple of acres and some sheds. They keep a few goats, pigs, ducks and sheep outside and rabbits, guinea pigs and small animals inside. They dont charge to look round, its donations in a milk churn. They get a lot of parents with their young kids visiting and they sometimes bring a cow and calf from the main farm outside the city. They also bring the odd pony or two, mainly in summer. Its very interesting, they even had some long horned sheep that you would never see anywhere else. (Perhaps in the remote Highlands of Scotland) No one in their right mind would destroy anything, but it regularly get a spate of vandalism. Its the parents who are doped out of their heads all the time and producing subhuman offspring. They should be put down, like they would and other animal that vandalised livestock.
These people must creep about, no one ever hears them.

I have long ago come to the conclusion if something is not screwed down somebody will come along and steal it or vandalise it, Church Roofs you name it and it will go. We have loads of useless people in this country who would do anything but a days work and once on drugs well they might as well put them down. Having said that when you see the parents you soon understand that the kids will have no chance.

On a similar situation I had a "reliable" local company sort out a problem on my Acer laptop (which I bought from them) only to find that when I got it back it was even worse than when I took it in. Needless to say I have not been back since. I still prefer my desktop machine which was custom built for me and has been OK.
