They were only struck a month or so ago Ann and they were worth about £2500.00 then. They struck 1100 each of the individual coins, but only 100 numbered sets and mine is set number 088. You could make up a set by buying all 4 coins separately, if you can get hold of them. A numbered set will always be worth more than a made up set, yet I would think it would be harder to make up a set. I've got a book, photos and stuff that belong to the set and a gold coin collector wouldn't have them.
I was only offered the set, because I had bought the Gibralter silver set and gold £10 piece. The gold piece is worth about 30 times its face value. That collection started with that war time silver coin they are advertising on the tele. The silver coins are made from silver salvaged from a torpedoed merchant ship. I'm still waiting for the 2 last silver coins, you get them every month or two as they are struck. I will take a picture of that collection when I get the last coins. I though the collection was going to be ready for Merchant Navy Day, but it hasn't worked out that way.
Once you start dealing with the London Mint, they think you are a multi-millionair. I was offered 2 gold collections last week, worth about £16,000.00. I will probably hear from them tomorrow, I owe them about £630.00.
