The most beautiful rose in our garden is this blood red beauty. The scent is absobloodylutely fabulous. Now that I have a bit more of a grasp of Photoshop, I was able to edit this shot and edit out the unwanted background, and rotate and crop the shot to look the way I wanted it. What do you think of the final results? Honest opinions please!

a rose is a rose by any other name would smell as sweet... I think you really captured the essence of this rose. I can almost smell the intoxicating fragrance. Great job.

It looks lovely Kev.
Some of the crap I watch, I'm pleased I haven't got a smellyvision.

I would say its a very good shot personally - you have good detail and shallow dof with no distracting rubbish around the rose and a little sunlight to add to the resulting picture

Thanks folks. Just to put you in the picture, so to speak, this is the original shot as it was taken..... You can see that the making of the final result involved a fair bit of cropping and filling. It was one of the first shots I took with my then new Nikon D90 and 18-105mm lens. The settings were accidental by the way. I also just checked with Opanda Exif, and it was shutter release #167.

Even that is a good photo Kev. I might have took a bit off the bottom, but the background doesn't detract from the rose.
